STARS OF RUSSIAN BALLET
DESCRIPTION

Gala Performances «Stars of Russian Ballet” – a brilliant concert drawn from the best of classical and contemporary ballet and danced by the Principals and the Leading Soloists of major Russian Ballet Companies.

The program might be presented within the framework of the State Program for development of cultural collaboration between the Russian Federation and foreign countries “CULTURE OF RUSSIA 2012 - 2018,” with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Participants - Soloists of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatres, the Mikhailovsky Theatre of St-Petersburg, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theatre, the Novosibirsk, Perm and Krasnoyarsk Theatres of Opera and Ballet, prize-winners of the Moscow International Ballet Competitions 2013 and, as special guests, world-renowned Russian ballet stars.

The Program includes excerpts from such well-known ballets as “Swan Lake,” “Don Quixote,” “Le Corsaire,” “The Nutcracker,” “Giselle,” “La Sylphide” and “La Esmeralda,” concert pieces such as «Russian Dance» by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, “Tarantella” by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, the Ukrainian dance “Gopak” by Sergei Soloviev-Sedoi and “The Dying Swan” by Camille Saint-Saens, as well as other works of Russian choreographers such as Yury Grigorovich, Vladimir Vasilyev, Dmitry Bryantsev, Radu Poklitaru and Yuri Smekalov.

Equipment: the black and white curtains set, video projector, CD/MD player, professional ballet floor cover.

Running Time: part I- 50 minutes, intermission - 20 minutes, part II - 50 minutes.

Conditions of the project: Total number of persons: 25, including artistic and administrative personnel.


HISTORY

A Gala Concert “Stars of Russian Ballet,” was presented by RUS ART Productions on November 2012, at the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia in Ulan Bator. The concert was presented within the framework of the Days of Russian-Mongolian Friendship and Cooperation, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Friendship between Russia and Mongolia, in accordance with the Program of International Cultural Cooperation between the two countries.

The program of the concert brought together by the principal and leading artists of the most important musical theaters of Russia – the Bolshoi Theater, the Mariinsky Theater, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater and the Novosibirsk Theater of Opera and Ballet, and served to acquaint a Mongolian audience with the finest examples from a diverse group of schools of Russian choreographic art, including examples of contemporary Russian choreography.

Taking part in the program were soloists of the Mariinsky Theater and Honored Artists of Russia, Andrei BALATOV and Ilya KUZNETSOV, Honored Artist of Russia Sofya GUMEROVA, soloists of the Novosibirsk Theater of Opera and Ballet Vera SABANTSEVA and Roman POLKOVNIKOV, soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and People’s Artists of Russia Maria ALLASH and Dmitry GUDANOV, soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and Honored Artists of Russia Marianna RYZHKINA and Yekaterina SHIPULINA, soloist of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Andrei MERKURYEV, artists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Karim ABDULLIN, Allina GUSAKOVA and Ivan RYUMIN, soloists of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater Kristina SHAPRAN and Semyon VELICHKO and soloist of the theater “Russian Ballet” (under the direction of Vyacheslav Gordeyev) and laureate of international competitions Tatyana BOLOTOVA.
